Steel City Jazz Festival presents Lewis.Brown, a new duo project: Larnell Lewis on drums and electronics, and Rich Brown on bass and electronics.
Rich Brown has been an active member of Toronto’s culturally diverse music scene since 1992. He has released 3 albums as a leader, and currently tours with New York based saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa. Rich has also lead his own bands rinsethealgorithm and The Abeng scjf_2016_logo_rand has appeared on over 60 recordings ranging from Jazz to Funk to Latin to traditional Asian and Arabic music.
Larnell Lewis
describes his sound as an eclectic mix of fusion music inspired by Afro and Latin Caribbean sounds, RnB, soul and funk. He is a Toronto-born musician, composer, producer, educator and clinician. Often referred to as one of Canada’s most promising up and coming drummers, Lewis has been featured on the cover of Drums Etc, a national drumming magazine. Larnell has performed with various artists ranging from Fred Hammond, Lalah Hathaway, and Lisa Fischer, to Kellylee Evans, Molly Johnson, and Snarky Puppy.
