Juno Week showcase: jazz/pop adventure with WPBE, Thurs Mar 12

WPBE_bandphoto_cThursday March 12, 2015, at 8 pm, $10. Artword Artbar presents a Juno Week showcase concert: The Worst Pop Band Ever aka WPBE, returning to Artword Artbar in Hamilton as part of the Juno Week Celebrations.
Featuring not one but two past Juno winners and Hamiltonians Adrean Farrugia (piano/keys) and Chris Gale (sax), along with Drew Birston (bass) and Tim Shia (drums), the band will be featuring new music off their upcoming album plus their own twisted interpretations of new and old Pop classics. From CBC to All About Jazz to Canadian Musician Magazine to losers of the NOW Toronto Soundclash competition, the WPBE has played to packed houses across North America and were called “a highlight of the (2012 TD Toronto Jazz) Festival” by tojazz.com. The boys are excited to be back in Hamilton, and promise no one will be hurt too badly this time.
“The music’s fresh, may appeal to pop lovers but assuredly to jazzers keen on a kind of driven fluency as genre stylings are examined, discarded and reworked.” (Toronto Star).  www.facebook.com/worstpopbandever
