String Bone (Barry James Payne), new album Love & Highways, Sun Nov 5 at 7 pm

Sunday November 5, 2017, at 7:00 pm, $15. Early show with Barry James Payne and his String Bone band. String Bone is Americana to the bone, Canadiana in the heart and soul. Southern Ontario songwriter Barry James Payne, the architect of String Bone, has a new collection of songs and stories, Love & Highways, his second full-length recording. On Love & Highways he drives through darkness, betrayal and remorse towards love, light, escape and freedom on the road ahead.
Opening set by singer-songwriter Michael Coughlan, now making his home in Toronto, Ontario. His debut album The Sixth Avenue Verses was produced by underground roots music genius Shannon Lyon. From a lyrical standpoint he paints in bold strokes, delivering unfettered compositions strongly rooted in story. His influences include Neil Young, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Replacements, Shannon Lyon, Leonard Cohen, Steve Earle, Rush, Bob Dylan, and Warren Zevon.

Barry James Payne also performs and records with Celtic powerhouse Rant Maggie Rant and Payne & Taylor with bluesman Rick Taylor (Willie P. Bennett, Stan Rogers, Colleen Peterson). Payne’s concert series String Bone Presents! brings the best of Canadian folk-roots to the stage at Stratford’s Revival House with 8-12 concerts in each season.
