Gunter Ott Blues Band, Thurs May 16

GunterOttBAND_poster_c650.jpgThursday May 16 at 8 pm, $5. The Gunter Ott Blues Band, part of our celebration of The Blues this month, featuring Gunter Ott on guitar and vocals, with bassist Ian Linton and harmonica ace Eric Rooker, and special guest Jim Chambers on keyboards. Based in Hamilton, the Gunter Ott Band plays a laid back mix of blues and roots rock ‘n’ roll that blends the muddy waters of the Mississippi delta country with the hardscrabble grit of our former steeltown turned artistic hub to create an evocative sound that extends the beauty, poetry and joy of the blues to a new generation. Band founder Gunter Ott plays rhythm guitar and handles lead vocals. He launched two bands in Toronto before moving back to Hamilton to form the Gunter Ott Band. In his spare time, he is also an editor, writer, author, photographer and antiquarian. Bassist Ian Linton has played in numerous Hamilton bands since the 1960s and has developed a fine appreciation for the blues and rock genres throughout his career. Ian also contributes several lead and backup vocals to the band’s repertoire. Harmonica ace Eric Rooker is a seasoned performer who has travelled the blues road, harp in hand, around the world. He now makes Caledonia his home base for his ramblings.
