Capacity:

Maximum 150 in audience area. Maximum 30 in stage area

Air (HVAC):

New heating, airconditioning and ventilating system in theatre, backstage and booth.

Audience
access:

Ground level access. Full wheelchair access, with entrance ramp, automated door opener, handicapped washroom.

Lobby:

Artword Gallery is also the entrance to the theatre. Main Gallery is 73' long x 15 wide. North Gallery 50' long x 11' wide leads to washrooms, emergency exit and entrance to the Artword Alternative (studio theatre).

Lobby Bar:

The gallery area is licensed under the LLBO.

Audience seats:

150 upholstered flip-up seats with arms, in good condition (from a movie theatre). Fixed on risers. 10 rows of 15 seats with a centre aisle

Load-in access:

Truck access at main entrance and via the north lane to workshop area. Doors to theatre from lobby, workshop and backstage area are 6' wide x 8' high.

Theatre Dimensions:

Full auditorium: 32' wide (unbroken span), 61' long and 16' high, plus a two-storey mezzanine 32' wide x 11' deep that includes the lighting booth, upper exit, staircase, and lower level exit.
Stage: 24' deep x 32' wide x 3.25" high, sprung dance floor. Doors in upstage (east) wall to crossover area (north door is 8'h x 3'w and south door is 8'h x 6'w).
Moat area (between stage and audience): 11' deep x 32' wide, carpeted.
Audience area: 32' wide, 28' deep, with built-in risers and seats.

Lighting Booth:

Booth on mezzanine is 18' w x 7' deep, fully enclosed, with sloping glass front, airconditioned.

Backstage:

Crossover space, accessed by upstage doors, is 32' wide x 12' deep. Leads to two dressing rooms each 9x12', separated by partial wall, with mirrors and counters, 4-5 people each. Airconditioned.

Stage:

Stage (24' d x 32' w x 3 1/4" h) is a sprung dance floor based on a 3-ply wood spring lattice (sometimes called basket weave) construction. Designed by Wesley Huyett of Washington DC and built at Artword by Rupen Kunungus and Ronald Weihs.
Stage surface is wood painted black by Artword. It may not be otherwise painted, screwed into, scraped, gouged or subject to any damage.
A set of 24 sheets of 8x4 masonite may be used for paint treatments, with permission only.
The stage position is fixed.

Walls:

The wall of the stage area are painted black. They may not be painted, screwed into, or altered in any way, unless with permission.

Drapery:

There are no blacks.
There are several narrow 16' legs, black.

Scrims:

A white scrim 28' wide x 15' high can be hung as a cyclorama.
A small black scrim 20' w x 11' h is also available.

Cyclorama:

A new natural cotton cyclorama, 13' h x 35' w, with a curved suspension rod against the upstage wall.

Fly system:

There is none.

Lighting system:

The dimming system consists of 5 CPD dimmers, with a total of 30 channels, limited to 3.6 kw per channel. Channels 31-36 are on one Edkatron dimmer, limited to 2.0 kw per channel. We have the Horizon system, with a digital-analog converter. (Not in use at present: one 24-channel Leprechaun two-scene analog board and one 12-channel Strand two-scene board.)

Sound system:

Two speakers hung in grid. Two other speakers are available. System includes mixers, amps, power conditioner, 2 CD players, cassette tape player, DAT player. There is program sound and VOG in the booth. Also available: four voice mikes, mike stands and mike cable.

Video:

Can be set up.

Slides:

Kodak carousel slide projector, modified to go through light controller.

Film Projection:

Good potential, with booth and sightlines. Equipment must be rented.

Communication system:

None.

Ladders:

Two folding A-frame platform stepladders, platform is 9.5' high, to reach about 15'. One extention ladder up to 18'. Two standard 8'-foot stepladders. One 5'-foot stepladder.

Piano:

Wurlitzer baby grand piano (4'), good warm sound, can be rolled offstage to crossover, moat or gallery.

Artword Alternative (flexible studio theatre)

Capacity:

Up to 60 seats on moveable risers

Lighting system:

Two American DJ 110 volt 12-channel controllers and six dimmer packs, limited to 500 watts per channel. Instruments for this system include: approx. 22 par 38 cans, four Leko (3 ½"), two Fresnel inkys, 8 mini pars, also 4 pinspots
