e-DENTITY - the newest exploration of work from award-winning Theatre Gargantua - logs into the virtual and hypnotic world of internet communication, where reality is restricted only by what you can type. Directed by Jacquie P.A. Thomas, with original script by Michael Spence, e-DENTITY is Theatre Gargantua's seventh completed cycle of work.

Theatre Gargantua's e-DENTITY, a ground-breaking theatre work that surveys the rapid and complex ways human interaction has changed since the advent of cyber communication: Who are we when we are on-line? And who is anybody else?

e-DENTITY integrates text, movement, original music, live-internet webcasting, on-line chat and technology-based interactive projections.

On-line, being yourself isn't exactly required! What are the rules of engagement in the shifting digital landscape? Five performers play in a virtual world as the audience surfs through an internet experience. From the anonymous and fractured banter of chat rooms and taboo-free blog communities to the unchecked success of internet match-making, the internet is perhaps the ultimate forum for the expression of human need. As technology presses forward with lightning speed, e-DENTITY explores the internet's prolific development and our own human evolution.

Theatre Gargantua, known for its bold theatricality and stunning visual presentations since the company's formation in 1992, has been nominated for 24 Dora Mavor Moore Awards. Our most recent production, (nod) (Fall 2003), garnered nominations for Outstanding Production, Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Set Design.
