Innovative Indian dance choreographers /performers Bageshree Vaze and Brandy Leary team up on a hot double bill at this year's fFIDA off site performances.

Leary brings to the stage a second development of an earlier fFIDA workshop piece entitled "Frida and Herself". This multi layered and multi disciplinary work integrates Indian dance, music, text and various styles of Asian puppetry to explore the life and art of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
Vaze offers a textured and emotionally powerful homage to late Canadian Kathak artist and friend Jahanara Akhlaq entitled "Jahanara". Combining the elegant style of North Indian Kathak with contemporary and classical accompaniment the work creates a rich montage of dance and image as an offering to the vibrant spirit and memory of Jahanara as an artist and a woman.
Two female choreographers present their work examining the art and souls of two fiery and passionate 20th century female artists in an evening devoted to explorations in contemporary Indian dance. An evening not to be missed!
