Tapestries by Peter Harris, from about 1983 to the present are on view at Artword Gallery from September 5 to October 21.
Peter Harris writes "I am delighted that theatre-going audiences may see my work because I regard each tapestry as a 'set piece' in many ways, ranging from the time of its concept and realization up to critical reception. Each addresses an idea long pondered, often includes experiments in technique, and requires months of work. Each stands alone, evoking its own story or impressions, different from the last project that preceded it chronologically, but revealing similarities when viewed from a twenty-year perspective. Each combines craft and art - is what it is and what it shows. I'm justifiably modest about how little of the swashbuckling paintbrush-wielding artist I bring to the romance, but it declares my love of the craft."
