Ladelpha: Private View / Public Places
February 25 to March 27, 2004
An exhibition of oil paintings and drawings done over the
past ten years. Eric Ladelpha's work reflects moments
poignant, transitional and yet eternal. With a strong
background in traditional methods, Ladelpha says, "I am
moving towards a more timeless representation of my
subjects, allowing irrational and dream-like elements to

Noonan: New Paintings: Downstream
April 3 to May 1, 2004:,
Large-scale acrylic abstract landscapes derived from photos.
The paintings are an extension of the investigations begun
in the Red Tree series (at Artword Gallery 2002). The
new works are views of streams and lakes, as seen from a
shoreline. The focus is water energy: movement, pattern,
light-reflection or stillness. Illustrated: "Riverrise".

A display of indigo-dyed textiles from Nigeria from the
collection of Nyakiringa of African Lifestyles, to accompany
the production by Artword Theatre and AfriCan Theatre
Ensemble of Wole Soyinka's masterwork Death and the
King's Horseman. (illustrated left: detail from the
indigo cloth used as the model for the painted backdrop for
Death and the King's Horseman)
Also on display: paintings by Toronto-based artist from
Nigeria, Moudu Ekhar.

Barbara Caruso: Surfaces -- Drawings and

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 2, 2-5 pm
New drawings and paintings on paper that question the
combination of drawn shapes and colour-shapes. Caruso
comments, "Drawing is surface. Painting is surface. With
these works I claim that drawing is painting."
