Hourglass Memories: Paintings and drawings by Réjeanne Lizotte
June 2 to 30, 1999
A series of new works by noted Quebec painter Réjeanne Lizotte. Hourglass Memories has two parts. The first, "A Place to Be", is about place and architecture. The artist interprets her memories of places and the warmth of the people living there. The second part, titled "The sacred and the millenium" translates in movement and colour the mood of New York City. Surrounded by the buzz of human activity, the artist questions the millenium and our relation with spirituality. More about

Shona Sculpture from the Jordan Collection (ongoing)
The phenomenon of Shona sculpture originated about thirty years ago in the great southern African tableland where the savannah is dominated by gigantic majestic boulders, often piled together. Shona sculptors prefer serpentine stone because its remarkable hardness guarantees its durability. Serpentine is often multicoloured, allowing the artists to discover and reveal the delicate hues.
