The first exhibition in the new Artword Gallery is a photography show by Toronto-based artist, Wayne Parent, part of the Contact '99 festival during May.

The show, titled Monad: Photographs of Flowers and Other Singular Compositions, is a body of large format photographs that examine the single object. The main works, portraits of flowers in vivid colour with a selected depth of field, achieve a starkly abstracted painterly quality.

A black and white series uses a similar formal approach towards a variety of common household objects.
