Dance/Music Collaboration: Olga Barrios, John Henry Gerena, Edgardo Moreno, Tues July 14

In a rare appearance back in Hamilton, dancer/choreographer Olga Barrios  joins forces with Hamilton-based dancer John Henry Gerena and musician Edgardo Moreno in an extended experimental interaction of movement and electro-acoustic music, with projections.
Olga Barrios is a choreographer, dancer and teacher who has collaborated with theatre, music and dance companies in Canada, USA and Colombia. Born in Bogota Colombia where she studied Performing Arts – Dance Program at the Arts Academy and Advertising at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. Olga also holds a MFA in Dance from Toronto’s York University. She is co-founder of Vanguardia Dance Projects in Canada and Artistic Director of Olga Barrios Contemporary Dance. Olga received the 2011 Hamilton Arts Award in Performance and is proud of being part of the multi-cultural artistic development movement in the Canadian community. http://www.olgabarrios.com/
Edgardo_Moreno_cEdgardo Moreno, born in Santiago Chile, is Hamilton-based composer who specializes in film scores as well as contemporary dance and theatre. Edgardo has begun a multi-media exploration of Nostalgia and notions of home. The work includes video, live sound manipulation, and music. He has worked extensively with numerous choreographers, including Allen and Karen Kaeja. John_Henry_Gerena_bcJohn Henry Gerena is a Colombian choreographer, improviser, performer and dancer with more than twenty years of artistic experience. Graduated in art education and advertising; Master in dance from York University of Toronto-Canada. In Canada, he has worked as a guest dancer in companies such as ParBleux, Newton Moraes Dance Theatre, Kaha:wi Dance Theatre and Olga Barrios Contemporary Dance. His interest as an independent artist focuses on the development of solo performance work, taking the body as central element in a close dialogue with other artistic disciplines, to find new ways to conceive dance.   http://johnhenrygerena.wix.com/john-henry-gerena
