Concert & book launch, Emma Rush and Paul Headrick, Tues Nov 16

An evening of music and literature featuring popular Canadian author Paul Headrick and renowned classical guitarist Emma Rush. Headrick will be reading “Fernando Sor in Paris” from his new collection of short stories. This work recreates the last days of the guitar composer and the reading will showcase Sor’s pieces performed by Emma Rush. This promises to be a very special collaboration!

Vancouver writer Paul Headrick is on tour with his new book “The Doctrine of Affections“. The subjects of this collection of stories are are soloists, ensemble players, scholars, collectors, and lovers of music, but their experiences with risk, religion, relief, and often regret make their stories resonate for readers who are hearing their songs for the first time. Author Caroline Adderson said of The Doctrine of Affections: “Musicians and music lovers, I recommend this book to you. To the tone-deaf and the tin-eared (pity us!), I prescribe it.” Headrick is also the author of the novel “That Tune Clutches My Heart“, which was shortlisted for the BC Book Prize for fiction.
