So Long Seven: jazz-world-folk blend… Fri Apr 7

Friday April 7, 2017 at 8 pm, $15. So Long Seven, a wonderful band that includes Neil Hendry (guitar, mandolin), William Lamoureux (violin), Ravi Naimpally (tabla) and Tim Posgate (banjo), returns to Artword Artbar (photo from show last year). So Long Seven performs richly textured acoustic music that brings their diverse influences into a distinctly Canadian voice. Influenced by bands such as Punch Brothers, Shakti, Oregon and many others the band is breaking new ground. Together they are creating a seamless tapestry of sound through their original music, blending composition and improvisation.  www.solongseven.com
**There is such a positive glowing musical force driving the sound. Each performer is a star when soloing and improvising. Tiina Kiik – Whole Note Magazine
**So Long Seven is a melange – and a delicious one, too judging from the enthusiastic audience. It’s music – almost all originals – draws from folk, bluegrass, and world music… Alayne McGregor, Ottawa Jazz Scene
