Concert: Haut-Canada Trio, oboe, bassoon, piano, May 29

Saturday, May 29, 8 pm, $10, at Artword Artbar. It’s Saturday night and the Haut-Canada Trio is back! They performed at our Classical Cafe (in association with the Brott Music Festival) in March, their debut concert as a Trio (photo right). It was fantastic, and we all wanted more, so here comes the Trio:  Marc Gibbons, oboe; Spencer deMan, bassoon; Talisa Blackman, piano. They are young, fun, and very good. And you can have a glass of wine while you enjoy the music.
Oboe, bassoon and piano are a rare combination in chamber music. What a wonderful sound. The Trio has done some innovative transcriptions. In March they played some well-known operatic duets, with oboe as the female voice and bassoon as the male. Yes, it works!
