Artword Artbar: clubhouse for Hamilton Fringe Festival, July 19-29

Fringe_Poster_FB_650.jpgFrom July 19 to 29, 2012, it’s Hamilton Fringe Theatre Festival time. Artword Artbar, 15 Colbourne Street, is the Fringe Clubhouse, open daily during the Festival from about 5 pm weekdays, noon on weekends until late (midnight, 1:00 am). Meet-up before/after shows, light meals, espresso, licenced under the AGCO. map_Fringevenues2012_800.jpgSpecial Fringe events at Artword Artbar (see following posts). In the Gallery each Fringe show is invited to mount a display.

Fringe Clubhouse: Talk Show, w. comedian Larry Smith, July 20-28

Fringe participants interviewed, by an irreverent comedian, so watch out! No show on Opening July 19 or closing July 29.  http://www.facebook.com/larrycomic

Fringe Clubhouse: Late Music, from 11 pm, July 20, 21, 26, 27, 28

Late Night Music during the Fringe Festival, Fri July 20, Sat July 21, Fri July 27, Sat July 28, from 11 pm to 1:00 am, tip jar for the musicians. Very impressive line-up!
Fri July 20: Fred Butler Septet, featuring a four-strong horn section, plus special guest Grace San Andres on vocals.  Fred Butler tenor sax, bari sax; Andrew Hills tenor sax, alto sax, flute and clarinet; Toby Ley tenor sax, alto sax; Marlon Brew trumpet, flugelhorn; Thom Mason guitar; Dave Holla bass; Mat Gervais drums. Playing originals and arrangements of standards.
Sat July 21: Beg To Differ trio playing blues / jazz / funk.  Tim Ninehouse piano, keyboards, vocals; Doug Sikma guitar; Steve Foster drums. Unique renditions of blues, jazz and funk songs, drawing from early blues roots to jazzified contemporary songs.
Thurs July 26: Social Animals: rhythm and blues duo Chris and Christa Bradbury, with Orange McFarland on bass. The band, headed up by vocalist Christa Bradbury, offer a soulful vocal driven modern rock and blues sound as only Christa can deliver it.
Janice Lee_cc_650.jpgFri July 27: Janice Lee and the Free Radicals. A groovy new jazz, funk, folk pop trio from Kitchener. Recent Waterloo Region Arts Award winner Janice Lee (of the Tra-La-Las) fronts on guitar and soulful vocals. Justin James brings rich Nat King Cole-like piano and vocals. Adam F. Lewis entertains with his upstage antics and grandiose drum styles. They bring a mix of catchy new original songs to sing along to, jazz standards to revel in, and a healthy dose of radical political analysis to talk about. Their motto is: Bring the Funk to the People. The People Need More Funk.  www.janicejolee.ca
Sat July 28: The Aubrey Wilson Quartet with Aubrey Wilson vocals, Chris Bruder piano, Sean Bruce Parker drums, and Victor Vrankulj bass, playing a variety of jazz standards.
