* March 1: Artword Theatre presents a reading of Bertolt Brecht‘s Galileo, in the English version by Charles Laughton, with a star-studded cast, including Brian Morton, Ryan Sero, Valeri Kay, Peter Gruner, Jeff Seffinga, Klyde Broox, Tanis MacArthur, Patti Cannon, Gordon Odegaard, and more! This is one of the greatest plays of the 20th century, rarely performed.
* March 8: Artword Theatre presents a reading of two one-act plays by J.M. Barrie: The Twelve-Pound Look and Rosalind. Two extremely clever views of Edwardian women.

Musically the evening will be mystical and supernatural through the sounds of Indian Sitar, mostly Indian classical music with the elements of folk and gazhals. Gallery: Andrea Liss *The Art of the Dress* is a vintage clothing installation of Canadian, American and European fashions, on exhibit (and for sale) at Artword Gallery, in February. Curated by vintage clothing collector Andrea Liss, the installation is inspired by the smoky romance of the femme fatale. Both high fashion and department store party dresses from the 1950s to 1980s will be styled exclusively to give you inspiration for Valentine’s Day. Hours with curator present: Fri Feb 11 (James North Art Crawl) from 7 to 10 pm, Sat Feb 12 from 2 to 6 pm.
Mark Korczysnki creates everyday objects and ornamental items out of forged metal. He is an artist blacksmith trained in the traditional method working out of his Sherman Street North studio, “metalmorphosis”. His exhibit features 10 art pieces — photographs with hand forged frames and hand cut mats.
Music in the bar: Wade Whittaker, solo classical guitar. And later, Tim Ninehouse, jazz piano.

This one takes as its jumping-off point (could mean that literally, you never know with dancers) “Smoky Romance of the Femme Fatale“, an exhibition of vintage party dresses from the 50s to 80s curated by collector Andrea Liss (in the installation gallery through February).

A jazz concert with vocalist Emily Kemp’s quintet “Em and Them”: Emily Kemp on vocals, Chris Bruder on piano/keys, Jordan Snider on drums, Tom Altobelli on upright bass and bass, and Scott McIntosh on guitar. Emily is a recent graduate from Mohawk College’s music program. She began working with Tom and Scott last year, and when she put together her graduation recital, added Chris and Jordan. “We play a variety of jazz standards along with a few motown tunes. We have a lot of passion in our playing and enjoy performing.”
