Thursday October 21 at 7:30 pm, $5, at Artword Artbar. Lil America Acevedo and Ruben Parra perform songs of La Nueva Cancion and other Latin American music. Lil America Acevedo was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. At the age of 4 she moved to Havana, Cuba, where she grew up listening to Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanes, Los Van Van, Irakere, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and all the influential Cuban music of the €˜80s. She studied vocal music and began singing in school the €œnueva trova€ songs, also know as €œLa Nueva Cancion.€ Now a resident of Hamilton. Lil is a jewel in the city€™s arts scene.
