Sue Leonard has returned to Hamilton where she was born and raised. Sue is a singer songwriter who writes with and for other artists. She’s been on two world tours with kd lang and sang on kd’s hit “constant craving’ and Bon Jovi’s “lay your hands on me”. She’s worked with Bruce Willis & Johnny Neel (Allman brothers), recently won female vocalist of the year at the Twirlie Awards out of Sacramento. “Bye Baby” received a Twirlie Award for the most plays on Twirl Radio in 2012. Her songs are a mix of americana, adult contemporary, pop, jazz & blues & folk and jazz.

The Sweet Nothings are Tom Shea (guitar and vocals), Jennifer Lockman (piano and vocals), and Angela Maccaroni (flute and vocals), playing a high-octane and engaging mix of original songs, swinging jazz standards and ballads, and classics from the pop songbook. Say Goodnight, Gracie! features the guitars, vocal harmonies, and classic folk-pop songcraft of Brandon General and Brennagh Burns.

James North Art Crawl, Friday June 14, 2013, from 8 pm, tip jar. The Cat Bernardi Quartet, a jazz group comprised of Claire Lee on piano, Devin Patten on bass, Ben Corner on drums and Cat Bernardi on vocals. They play a wide variety of jazz standards as well as their own original compositions. The Cat Bernardi is inspired by Latin, swing, bebop and contemporary jazz–all which influence their sound. www.facebook.com/thecatbernardiquartet The CBQ were scheduled to play back in February, but a snowstorm got in the way. Wednesday June 12, at 8 pm, cover tba. Indie/post-rock musician Molitor (Liam Morrison and band, guitar, bass & drums). He has just released his debut EP and is touring with indie singer/songwriter Monica Pascoe.
“Molitor is the brainchild of Toronto musician Liam Morrison. Growing up in Niagara Falls stuffed him full of suicide, addiction, capitalism, poverty, and flashing lights at an early age. Guitar being his main instrument, the ambient riffs and pedalboard concoctions are magnets for nostalgia. His haunting vocals will plant themselves inside your brain.”
“Monica Pascoe is a 18 year old singer/songwriter who is a up and coming artist in the music industry. Her music and voice has been compared to such artists as Feist and Christina Perri. She is currently working on her first solo album.”

Thursday June 6 at 8 pm, $10.00. Grammy-nominated guitarist and singer Kyle Pacey presents an evening of original music, an eclectic mix of soul, roots, funk and R & B. Ever since we were blown away by Kyle’s playing with Edgar Breau in February we’ve been working on getting him back at Artword Artbar. A musical force, Kyle Pacey has been described as Canada’s answer to the Buena Vista Social Club. Pacey’s combination of rhythm and technique are exhilarating. He likes to push the boundaries with his unorthodox style and unique approach to the guitar. Kyle’s songwriting influences are varied. “I am inspired by the optimism and culture of the 1960s and 70s along with current events, personal upheavals, metaphysics… and more.” Joe Curtis, To-nite Magazine writes: “I was totally mesmerized by guitarist, Kyle Pacey’s playing technique… Kyle is the fastest, most superb guitar virtuoso I’ve ever seen. Tuesday, June 4 at 7:30 pm, cover tba. A special concert by songwriter Andrew Laviolette, on tour with his new self-titled album, and his trademark road-weary songwriting, tight finger picking and engaging storytelling. It has been 3 years (and hundreds of live performances) since Laviolette released his breakthrough album This Far From Home an album that he’s tirelessly toured from Halifax N.S to Dawson City Y.T since. The current tour marks an exciting new chapter for this emerging independent Canadian songwriter. “This Far From Home allowed me opportunities to discover the many beautiful places, people and communities Canada has to offer,” says Laviolette. “That album has taken me to places I would never have visited, let alone performed in, had it not have been for my music. I can’t wait to see where this album leads me.” These semi-acoustic, “stories from my suitcase” events promise genuine song-craft and zealous performances to venues large and small, grand or humble. “This tour is built around my tireless commitment to wanderlust songwriting”, Laviolette says. “I’ll be performing songs, new and old, from the road, on the road, all the while chasing new melodies for songs to come”.
